    Mt Vernon Nazarene U: Computer Science Faculty Position

    Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is an intentionally Christian teaching university for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith.     The University is seeking a full-time (nine-month) Computer Science Faculty Member, beginning in the Fall semester of 2017. Rank is open. Compensation is competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.

    Responsibilities may include:

    . Teaching a broad range of undergraduate computer science courses. The courses in our program cover most common areas of computer science, with emphases in software development and computer networking. Specific teaching assignments will be determined after considering the background and experience of all department faculty;

    . Advising of students majoring in Computer Science or Computer Systems and Network Engineering, and ensuring that their academic progress meets requirements set by the institution.

    . Working with students to encourage professional development, and mentoring upper level students on senior projects, which involve software development, computer networking, and server configuration;

    . Supporting departmental efforts for continued improvement of programs;

    . Serving the university through faculty committee participation.

    Qualifications:

    Interview preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

    . An Evangelical Christian confession of faith and experience is required (Statement of Faith required at application).

    Membership in the Church of the Nazarene is preferred;

    . A graduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is required. An earned Ph.D. in Computer Science is preferred;

    . A demonstrable track record of successful teaching or significant professional experience related to Computer Science;

    . Strong presentation skills, and commitment to quality classroom instruction and student learning;

    . Excellent oral and written communication skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively with others.
