    Tenure Track Faculty in Organic Chemistry

    Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinctive candidates for a faculty appointment to a tenure track position in the Department Chemistry and Biochemistry beginning in August 2018. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

    Qualifications

    Personal commitment to Christ as Savior and Lord, a Christ-centered, vibrant faith, and passion for the mission and educational philosophy of Taylor University are required.

    An earned doctorate from an accredited institution is required.Necessary qualifications include a record of success or demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate students and to conduct research with undergraduate students. Ability to teach Organic Chemistry is required.

    Responsibilities

    In addition to teaching Organic Chemistry, the successful candidate will join existing faculty in sharing responsibilities for general education and first year chemistry courses. Research with students and standard faculty duties such as advising, committee assignments, and scholarly activity are expected.

    Department

    The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry consists of five faculty and a half-time lab manager, who serve approximately 35 majors and provide instruction for students in general education and service courses.The department is closely aligned with environmental science, biology, physics, and exercise science through collaboration in courses and research.The department offers BA degrees in Chemistry and Chemistry/Pre-Medicine Concentration and BS degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry-Environmental Science, and Chemistry Education.

    The department enjoys flexible classroom and laboratory space housed in the 137,000 square foot LEED Gold certified Euler Science Complex that opened in 2012.The 1440 sq. ft. Organic Chemistry Lab has spacious unobstructed benchtops, 16 individual hoods around the perimeter, and a large whiteboard with AV projection.The Organic Lab is adjacent to a well-equipped instrument lab that includes a multi-nuclear NMR spectrometer, an FTIR spectrometer, two GCs, two GCMS, and other assorted instruments.
