    CALVIN COLLEGE: Biology Position


    The department seeks to fill a tenure-track position to begin August 2018.We are seeking an individual with experience and interest in genomics and bioinformatics, and a broad background in biology. We are looking for candidates with experience in manipulating and accessing large databases using bioinformatics tools and programming languages such as “Python” and “R”. The prospective faculty person is expected to teach, advise students, establish or collaborate in a research program that involves undergraduates, and serve the mission of the department and college.


    Education and Experience:Faculty members must have the academic and personal qualifications for teaching and scholarship, including a terminal degree in a biology-related field. We desire post-doctoral experience, experience teaching undergraduates, and evidence of scholarly activity and potential.

    We are a dynamic team of 15 full-time faculty and 4 staff. We graduate 40-55 biology majors each year in Biology, Biology with Neuroscience concentration, Public Health, Environmental Science, Biology Secondary Education, and Biotechnology programs, all within a vigorous and intentionally integrated liberal arts context.We are committed to teaching and research, emphasizing progressive pedagogies, integrative and interdisciplinary approaches, and service learning and research opportunities within courses.We seek to build on successful external and internal funding sources that support our facilities, equipment, and research.
