The best way in which to see what Darwin meant by the term, "race(s)," in
the Origin, is to visit one of the electronic versions of that text and
search for the word "race." You will find that he generally meant "species"
of various animals, but that he also did use it a little to refer to humans.
 In the Origin there almost nothing said about human evolution -- that would
come later in Descent of Man. The exercise is simple, and it's easier to
describe than to try to relate the contexts in which he uses that term.
