The Stone edition of the Tanach reads, "If men shall fight and they collide with a pregnant woman and she miscarries, but there will be no fatality, he shall surely be punished as the husband of the woman shall cause to be assessed against him, and he shall pay it by order of judges."

This is ambiguous. Is it only the woman whose death counts? Does the death of the newborn count? Is the fine only for injury short of death to the woman? I find different views among the commentators.

But if any harm comes to the woman and she dies, he shall be executed. Ex 21:22-23  TLB [fined vs executed?]
