Not to mention the numerous different types of fossilization, which can
proceed at various rates.

A slightly less thoroughly wrong version of this is to point out that
fossilization is thought to often be a geologically rapid process (which is
true and does not confuse physiology with fossilization), followed by the
non sequiteur of concluding that the earth must be young.
