It's too bad that this issue had to be decided - not finally of course - in
a court of law instead of by scientific & theological discussions. But
since the Dover school tried to impose their ideas politically, the legal
remedy was appropriate. Now we can expect massive spinning by the DI &
other IDers to the effect that it wasn't their ideas that were on trial,
that the Dover board misunderstood ID as religious &c. But in fact the
board was just taking seriously what everybody knows ID to be. If nothing
else the whole affair may have the salutary result of getting rid of the
dissimulation about ID not being religious.
