It's just that evolution is the only theory that presents an explanation
for them. Of course you are right, since there is no competing theory,
it does not necessary 'favor' evolution. It's just that evolution is the
only scientific explanation of these data.
One may object that 'a designer could explain it' but without
understanding motive, means, opportunities etc, the argument that a
designer could explain is is meaningless.
