Another aspect to that is "random death". If a mountain climber is
killed by a random rock fall - was God in control or was it a
random event?

If God was in control (predestined) then saeemingly random acts
(IE: evolution) can exist. If random then God obviously allows for
uncontrolled random activity in creation (within a greater
controlled scheme). In either case evolution is possible.
