I do not know about that, but if Iapetus opened to a width similar to the present Atlantic, closed, and the Atlantic opened all within one year, then the relevant continents were going about 45 mph. Without any firm statement as to which deposits are supposed to have formed during the Flood, it is difficult to say how much plate motion is getting crammed in there. Note that some claim that Pangea split in the lifetime of Peleg, which would put him in the Triassic, although this is rejected by others.

Although I am not optimistic about finding a credible mechanism for this, I think it is important to note that honesty about the paleomagnetic evidence is not in itself incompatible with a YEC framework. Thus, objections to the magnetic decay argument are not inherently anti-YEC; they can also reflect a concern for honest, careful work.

There is the irony that the second law of thermodynamics is routinely wrongly invoked against evolution, when in fact it is a major obstacle to a global flood and catastrophic plate tectonics. Additional energy to speed up the process requires the production of lots of extra heat.
The sediments on top of the plates need additional the fossils, geochemical signals, event layers (e.g., abundant tektites), etc. put in order and in geographic arrangement to match the pattern expected for an old earth.

Plate tectonics data and data on the Devonian reefs of Alberta constitute perhaps the two best data sets a minimally informed scientist might use to convince an open-minded YEC that the world is not as young as he thinks. The solid rock is an integral part of a plate that can extend for many hundreds of kilometers. At the far side of such plate is a second plate. Where the first plate comes in contact with the second plate, it often dives under it, creating a subduction zone that, from the friction of rock on rock, causes earthquakes and volcanoes.
